paper architecture

During the last ten years, I have been working as an artist and have participated in several selected public exhibitions. In addition, I have put on numerous solo exhibitions and have been involved in a number of collaborative projects. The main theme of my work is "the whereabouts of the human" and "vague memory". I collect fragments of the memories. And I make the paper town of fictitious that is based on the memories. How far from my subjective memories to the other people’s subjective memories? And how far from these memories to the “Fact” ? I create scenery that function to look at these gaps. I am certain that the artist-in-residence program will provide an ideal setting in which to develop and nurture these themes and give a major boost to my artistic output.

I am attracted by the environment and the artists community of Saksala ArtRadius. I expect that placing myself in a different environment will be helpful for my work. Because I use images related to habitation for my work. There are many interesting differences between Japan and Finland. Perhaps Kyoto and Saksala, too.

Miyuki will be in the art centre from December 2007 until  March 2008 to work on her plans.

Miyuki
