symposium CHILDREN'S LABYRINTH 2010 - artists
MARC WALTER - CANADA
ON SITE
The flying boat
Marc created spontaneously another piece for a separate corner of the labyrinth.
A boat, small but big enough for two children, is perched at the top of dead
pine trees. Done with birch branches salvaged from a fallen tree and covered
with moss, it seems to have landed there a while ago. Other organic materials
hang from the boat, as if time had affected the structure. Loosely inspired from
a Quebecois legend The Flying Canoe, it might suggest stories to the visiting
children. What happened ? How did that object appear here?
He hopes that our young visitors will dream their own tales while gazing at the
boat...
Curator of this symposium is the sculptor
Lucien den Arend living
and working in Kangasniemi.
A.I.E.S.M. manager for
Finland.
