Art is one of the basic human qualities.
In the first years of a child's live the view on reality is in an artistic way.
Art is the open mind to the phenomena of the (unknown or not-yet-known) reality.
Children are able to see things in a new way, because they don't have any notice of the rules adults are using and It is also natural to children to use art languages by expressing themselves.

    The international art education symposium
    ‘NATURALLY ART – luonnollisesti-taide’
has the intention to work together with professional experts in the field of art and art education and (art) teachers to build up various skills for using art in regular education and create a fundamental base for art in education. After the first symposium in summer 2007 it is the intention to build up a group of (international) art teachers to cooperate in the field of innovation, developing and making programs for art.

During the symposium there will be lectures, discussions, workshops and presentations by different international professionals:
    *Italy-REGGIO EMILIA - REGGIO CHILDREN
*Finland-RIITTA MOISANDER secretary general Etelä-Savon-taidetoimikunta and  art teacher
*Finland/NL-MARJA DE JONG artist and art teacher
*the Netherlands-JOLANDA SCHOUTEN artist and art education consultant
*Finland-MATTI MATTSON artist and art teacher
*the Netherlands MARJAN BOOY singer and voice educator
    * Finland-Mervi Riikonen art teacher and children's culture

    cooperating organizations:
    -Finland - ETELÄ-SAVON TAIDETOIMIKUNTA
-Italy - REGGIO EMILIA - REGGIO CHILDREN
    -the Netherlands - ALLAPRIMA FOUNDATION
    -Finland - TARINAMÄEN TAIKAA
    -Finland - SAKSALA ARTRADIUS
-Finland - education department MIKKELI CITY

The theme is based on the recycling of materials, found materials and natural materials. These materials challenge to be used in new ways. It stimulates to see new possibilities, to create new and unknown solutions, it demands for an open mind. The different lectures are telling about the way what the intention is, how the materials can be used and what is the relation with professional art and artists. There will be different practical examples, like *the REGGIO CHILDREN WORKPLACE, *the WOOD EXPERIENCES in the forest from Mari Shields *the ART BOX of Jolanda Schouten, she is presenting a new box during this symposium.

During the workshops the participants can work with one of the professionals to explore different ways to use the materials, to find interesting solutions and to build up skills for the personal profession. In the evenings there will be an exchange of thoughts and experiences and view on practical solutions, but also walks through the rural area and the possibility to swim in the lake.
