I am excited at the opportunity to be an artist in residence at Saksala Art Radius. I am interested in exploring the way of life in Finland, its local culture and cultural mythology, and exploring local food products to feature in my practice. I intend to explore the local environment, and create temporary public art installations within the natural environment of Haukivuori as well as ephemeral works inside the buildings of Saksala Art Radius. The final outcome of this residency would be a temporary outdoor installation using local foods and found objects. This work would then be translated into an indoor setting will be exhibited at Saksala ArtRadius gallery.   Responding to the environment in which am located and absorbing all elements of my surroundings, the location will itself become a significant factor in my production. This methodology was successfully employed during a cross-cultural project in Turkey in 2005. This methodology means that I will not know exactly how the work will manifest until I arrive, that is, I will be responding specifically to a local site, and its specific characteristics.
