“DO MY BIDDING” - EUROPE
The Camper Tour arrives in art centre Saksala ArtRadius on Saturday
April 10 and departs on Monday April 12.
On Sunday April 11 everybody is welcome to visit this driving art studio.
MANIFESTO
Do My Bidding was established in 2007, our purpose being to work
collaboratively on projects that reach a wide audience and bring art
to the disadvantaged.
The collective consists of two female artists who endeavor to undertake
both collaborative works and independent pieces.
We aim to engage in at least one community project per year, working in
underprivileged areas to bring art and art practices to those who might not
necessarily have access to them.
We aim to improve our social adhesion in communities as well as
anywhere else we can work.
We aim to work with everyone who is interested in our art.
• To compare the reaction and willingness of people across Europe to
relational art (or to my practice of interaction).
• To drive across Europe in a campervan and interact with people on the
streets or from within the campervan.
• To contact galleries across Europe to arrange an organised/advertised
event.
• To use the campervan as a studio, exhibition/gallery space, mode of
transport and home.
• To document the interactions and events to be exhibited on return to
Swansea in various galleries in the UK.
OBJECTIVES:
We hope to forge new relationships with the countries we visit , also we
hope to gain a better insight and understanding of the places we carry our
project out in through cultural exchange. We hope to promote Welsh art and
to encourage European artists to visit Wales.
Our end aim is to increase peoples understanding towards minorities in
Wales, the rest of the UK and hopefully Europe by promoting the fact that
everyone is similar no matter where they come from. We hope our liaisons
with the European galleries and our UK exhibitions will put this across.
This project will bring the opportunity to a vast and diverse section of
both the population of Swansea and Europe, hopefully the rest of the UK too,
to take part in artistic and cultural activity. Hopefully we will increase
awareness and understanding of the various European cultures present in
Swansea and also foster greater feelings of inclusion and value towards
these people. We also aim to promote Wales and Swansea to the people we
visit.
